I was pleasantly surprised by the way my new year's eve turned out. Feeling quarantined to the house, I pouted through hor d'oeuvres and sulked all the way up until dinner. But something clicked after that. I'll only be able to ring in 2010 once, so why not do it right? Maura and I had invited some of our dearest friends over, and the five of us ended up having a total ball.
We started this tradition on NYE 2008 that turned out to be pretty brilliant. Right after midnight, we bust out to the street, plug an iPod into someone's car, and dance to the first song that plays on shuffle. Last year we got "Larger Than Life" by the Backstreet Boys and we twirled and jumped not the slightest bit ironically. This year, we got "Sound of Settling" by Death Cab For Cutie. Dance with us :-)
Happy new year, readers. Let's make it a good one. Posts will go on regular starting next week. Aren't you excited? I know I am.
I really like clothes. Like really really like them. I'm also partial to classic rock and F. Scott Fitzgerald novels, but seriously. Fashion trumps all. When I'm not musing about riding boots and little black dresses, I'm either studying or exploring Chicago with my friends. Life is beautiful.

That's mad cute. Sound of Settling's a quiet one, but not altogether disquieting :P
Make the best of what you've got is the way to do it...and that's how I completely enjoyed my New Years celebration! Happy new year!
